About Us
We are a group of published authors who share a passion for writing.
Our love for writing brought us together. Most of us met in writer's groups in Illinois while sharing our stories with group leader Helen Macie Osterman. Helen was the most experience in writing and was a published author. She had a strong passion for writing and inspired us to fulfill our own dreams of writing books. We later followed Helen in her footsteps which led us to a publisher. Unfortunately, our publisher closed her company, and we were on our own. This is where our new chapter begins.
We all knew that our books were an inspiration to our readers, some of which are award winners. None of us could let our books die. As a group, we shared the frustration of what we could do to get our books back in print. We all looked into self-publishing and decided to give it a go.
Self-publishing isn't easy. It takes money, a lot of time organizing, and finding the right company for your book. The author has to find an editor, cover designer, obtain an ISBN number and barcode, but most of all, the right formatting needed for printing the book. As a group, we all shared our experiences mostly through trial and error, and decided which companies to go with and which would have the best marketing for our books. And the results were wonderful.
Within a year, nearly all of our books have returned to the shelves. Most of the authors now have multiple titles published and some are contracted with big publishing houses. We as a group, stuck with each other through thick and thin, and helped each other grow as authors. We decided to call ourselves, the Midwest Author Club.
