Emma Winberry is the creation of author Helen Macie Osterman. Together, these two talented women dispense common sense advice, enjoy life to the fullest and solve mysteries!
Hello and Happy (almost!) Springtime~
Emma Winberry here getting out this newsletter. Helen is busy working on the sequel to Danger by Design. This one is difficult to write because she is going back and forth from Portland, Oregon to Chicago, with two plots that will come together in the end. She is also getting her income tax documents ready for the accountant. Nate takes care of all that for us, thank goodness.
A few weeks ago, Helen went to the Marcus movie theater in Orland Park to see the opera Tales of Hoffman broadcast live from the Met. I can’t believe the number of people who don’t know that the Metropolitan Opera in New York City broadcasts a number of operas in high definition to movie theaters around the world.
Of course, there’s nothing that can rival being in an opera house for a live performance. But Nate and I do enjoy seeing the Met productions. We go to a theater in downtown Chicago.
The advantages of going to the movie theater are: parking is free, the tickets are inexpensive, and the seats are comfortable with lots of leg room. During intermission, the cameras go backstage and show the stagehands moving the scenery. They are so well organized. They have to be because time is limited.
An opera diva usually interviews the performers: the tenor, baritone, soprano, and the orchestra conductor. In some operas they even discuss the supernumeraries. Nate and I smile at each other because, as you know, we are supers.
Helen heard from her publisher at Oak Tree Press regarding Rogue Wave, the sixth and last book in the Emma Winberry series. The tentative release date is sometime in October. She is already contacting other authors who may be willing to give her a review. If you’d like to do so, make sure to contact her.
Helen’s social calendar is filling up faster than a debutante’s dance card at her coming out party! See the listing of events further along in the newsletter, and check out her Facebook page for additional updates.
Glad to know the cold winter weather is almost at an end. We’re more than ready for warm spring breeze and bright garden blossoms.
Until then, happy reading!
