Anna Grob Children's Books
Anna Grob worked with animals for over 25 years, as a veterinary assistant, and professional all breed pet groomer. Her love for animals and nature lead her to volunteer at Brookfield Zoo near Chicago IL, where she educates zoo guests about animals and the homes they live in. She attended many wolf ecology work shops, and seminars and has interacted with wolves, coyotes, and other wild canids. Anna has shared her knowledge about Mexican gray wolves with people at several institutions around the country. She received a Spotlight Award for her dedication to educating zoo guest about wolves and their habitat.
Anna wrote a Mexican Gray Wolf fact sheet for Brookfield Zoo, as well as many articles for the Dog Paw Pet blog, and the newsletter for the Alaskan Malamute Club of Wisconsin.
Anna is an award winning artist and photographer, and enjoys hiking, dog sledding, and showing her dogs in obedience competitions, and visiting nursing homes. Anna is currently the blog and webmaster for several websites including actress Betty White's fan club, Bets' Pets.
Anna's first book, A Coyote Who Wished He Lived In A Zoo, was released in 2012 and was nominated for the Juvenile Literature Awards by the Friends of American Writers Chicago. The second edition of this book was published by Anna in 2014.
How I became an Author and Illustrator
by Anna Grob
Animals and nature have always been my favorite subjects, especially dogs. I studied the anatomy of every dog breed recognized through the American Kennel Club and learned how to draw them. I had a natural talent for drawing and took a couple of art courses in High School and a community college. Later, I wanted to try something new, and picked up a paint brush, and surprised my family with an amazing landscape painting. I decided to show my work in art shows along with my photography. I later became an award winning artist and photographer.
One day at the zoo, a couple of fellow volunteers were impressed with my knowledge of wolves and dogs and loved my method of teaching people about them. They suggested I write books about animals for children. I loved the idea, and learned how to write for children. I later joined a writers group who loved my story and suggested I draw illustrations for it. So I did, sent it to a publisher and she loved it too.
I now find writing and illustrating children's book as a passion. It has fulfilled my creative side, and allowed me to continue educating both adults and children about animals while enjoying the process.

What would you do if you were a coyote who was not happy living in the wild? Jesse wondered the same thing, until one day, his eyes opened to a beautiful place where his dream of finding an easier way of life, may come true.
I am pleased to introduce you to my first book, A Coyote Who Wished He Lived In A Zoo, a fictional story with non-fiction woven into it. The book will delight children ages 5-9 as well as parents and teachers as they read it aloud to young children. The story is positive, hopeful, and inspiring. The book fits in the school curriculum as it talks about an animal's niche and habitat, along with the prey and predator relationships, as well as the good things zoos do for animals. Children love animals, and zoo's are a big part of their learning experience. This, along with the character's adventure, is a sure way to entertain, and educate your child at the same time.
I have closely studied the anatomy, movement, and behavior of coyotes to help make the illustrations in the book, as realistic as possible.
